Me and the Mermaids!

So that's me in the middle of two hotties also known as 2/3 of the Disco Mermaids. Yes, they are as fabulous in person as you think they would be. It was so cool to sit in a cafe and talk books, publishers, and writers for a couple of hours: I loved every second of it. They're gonna be big I tell ya. If you get the chance to hang out with them at SCBWI in LA take it. They don't want to admit it, but they are the rock stars.

The only thing that was a downer was how Mom-ish I felt in between the two of them. Yes I'm slightly older (ahem), but still. I think I have to try just a little harder.

I got to see them because I'm on a little road trip with my younger sister back down to Santa Barbara. She's taking a look at the university and I'm the tour guide. I'm going to try to take a few minutes and tidy up the MG for Agent E so that we can get that show on the road.

On this date: In 1944, D-Day.

How fun! Let me know the next time you guys are in Italy...:-)

P.S. Cyn, I could help bring up the average age of the group--I think you and I are the same Mom-ish age.

Well, I'm spending my day buying pirate gear and getting ready for a zillion five-year olds with eye patches and swords to overtake my house on Saturday.

I'm no rock star. All mom.

It was great seeing you!! We MUST do it again.

Though I'm not a mom (only to two dogs), I felt dumpy next to you two! It's funny when you meet writer/bloggers in person, who you only know cyber-ly. And for some reason I was taken aback at how gorgeous and young CynJay is! I swear, when I saw you I thought, "Great...another young twenty-something busting into our business, making us look old." Swear!

Yes, it was a blast. Robin and I couldn't stop gushing last night about how wonderful you are...just as funny and entertaining and sweet as on your blog. We just wish you could live closer and could come to conferences with us. Although, then you'd have to become a DiscoMermaid, and you may be mortified by our antics and not want to hang out anymore!

Thanks for the visit. Please do it more often!

xoxo

Mom-ish. It's the same as Amish in my world. See you at SCBWI LA!

OMG! Such love on the blog!

Robin - pirate-booty buyer though you may be, Mom-ish at this point is nowhere on your radar. There is a difference.

Eve - I so wish I lived closer so that we could all hang out. I can't imagine the Mermaids with a 4th (and Jay might have something to say about that), but maybe we could start a Mermaids-in-training club. It would be an honor to be a founding member. Mermaids 2.0? HipHopMermaids? TapDanceMermaids? We'll have to work on it.

Um...no offense here or anything...but as nice as you are, you might want to reschedule that long-postponed visit to the optometrist. Young and gorgeous are sadly not part of my vernacular anymore.

Love ya back!
