Library Blog Challenge

This is a library-loving blog challenge thought up by the fabulous Jennifer Hubbard whose book The Secret Year has gotten lots of great buzz!

For every commenter on this post between now and midnight on March 26th, I will donate $1 to the San Leandro Public Library, up to an amount of $200. You don't even have to say anything profound in the comments - 'librarians rock' will do.

Note that my pledge is “per commenter”—so if a single person leaves 50 comments, that still only counts once! But you can do more by spreading the word ... please link to this post, tweet about it, and send your friends here so they can comment and raise more money.

If you’re moved to make a flat-fee donation to your library, or to start your own challenge, you are quite welcome, and please leave that information in the comments.

For a complete list of participating bloggers (and to visit other sites where you can help libraries just by leaving a comment!) visit the writerjenn blog at http://writerjenn.livejournal.com/

Librarians so ROCK! Remember that libraries are run by municipalities - so make sure that when you hear about cutting government spending, you remember that can mean cutting your libraries.
And to CynJay - big discussion at a YA librarians meeting today about DLS! I'm sure new readers for the book were grabbed today :-)

Your website is beautiful, and your books look really fascinating. I am going to check out both of them. Thanks for doing the library challenge. I am impressed with how many people are participating. Libraries need our help now more than ever, with this tough economic climate, and all of the budget cuts.

This is amazing!!! So great of you to support the local libraries! I think more people should do this. If I had the money I would too, but as small as a dollar is, its precious to me right now. LOL Get ready for more comments because I am going to tell my friends, and they know how book crazy I am and they support my addiction! HAHAHA

I spent my summers as a kid sitting in my favorite tree reading from the stack of books I had gotten from our beautiful old Carnegie Library in Newton, Iowa. I enjoyed reading so much, I figured it must not be something adults must think I was "wasting my time" with! A life-long reader who, to this day, gets a huge sense of joy walking into my local library. Libraries rock, librarians rock, and Cynthia rocks!

Ann Malaspina said...

Just found out that New Jersey libraries are going under the ax, too. Librarians rock!

Unknown said...

Yay for libraries and books in general. And thanks to Terra for forwarding :-)

Also wanted to let you know that the copies of Dirty Little Secrets from your giveaway arrived, and I took a copy down to donate to my library today. Thank you again (and thank you from the library)!

And both I and my husband have already read and absolutely loved it. :)

Just wanted to let you know that I've already passed on the second copy once to a friend from church. She's an avid reader and wanted to know more about how I grew up. I thought "Dirty Little Secrets" was a great way for her to really understand it. She really enjoyed it.

Also, this last weekend when the kids and I were at the library, I put in a requisition request for them to get the book. The librarian did seem a little confused when I told him he didn't need to put it on hold for me...LOL. I simply explained that I knew there was at least one teenager in town who NEEDED to read that book, and probably lots of others who are her/his friend.

Best wishes, CJ!
