Library Blog Challenge

This is a library-loving blog challenge thought up by the fabulous Jennifer Hubbard whose book The Secret Year has gotten lots of great buzz!

For every commenter on this post between now and midnight on March 26th, I will donate $1 to the San Leandro Public Library, up to an amount of $200. You don't even have to say anything profound in the comments - 'librarians rock' will do.

Note that my pledge is “per commenter”—so if a single person leaves 50 comments, that still only counts once! But you can do more by spreading the word ... please link to this post, tweet about it, and send your friends here so they can comment and raise more money.

If you’re moved to make a flat-fee donation to your library, or to start your own challenge, you are quite welcome, and please leave that information in the comments.

For a complete list of participating bloggers (and to visit other sites where you can help libraries just by leaving a comment!) visit the writerjenn blog at http://writerjenn.livejournal.com/

  53. I spent my summers as a kid sitting in my favorite tree reading from the stack of books I had gotten from our beautiful old Carnegie Library in Newton, Iowa. I enjoyed reading so much, I figured it must not be something adults must think I was "wasting my time" with! A life-long reader who, to this day, gets a huge sense of joy walking into my local library. Libraries rock, librarians rock, and Cynthia rocks!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just found out that New Jersey libraries are going under the ax, too. Librarians rock!

  67. Just wanted to let you know that I've already passed on the second copy once to a friend from church. She's an avid reader and wanted to know more about how I grew up. I thought "Dirty Little Secrets" was a great way for her to really understand it. She really enjoyed it.

Also, this last weekend when the kids and I were at the library, I put in a requisition request for them to get the book. The librarian did seem a little confused when I told him he didn't need to put it on hold for me...LOL. I simply explained that I knew there was at least one teenager in town who NEEDED to read that book, and probably lots of others who are her/his friend.

    Best wishes, CJ!
